JOF FUNCTIONS SUMMARY: To ensure the safe and efficient operation of Oceans of Fun's water attractions and Halloween Haunt by associates who offer the best in guest service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires the following education and experience, or an equivalent combination of both:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Eligibility and ability to obtain a Jeff Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program Instructor or Instructor Trainer license.
- Ability to be a certified Pool Operator and the ability to advise on pool chemistry and filtration as necessary and according to CPO protocol
- Ability to learn and perform CPR and Basic First Aid and maintain current certification
- Ability to ride all water attractions at Oceans of Fun
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the seasonal positions that directly report to this position
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with senior management, guests, and seasonal staff in resolving problems. Communicates verbally and in writing with individuals inside and outside the company
- Requires reading of materials to interpret and analyze content.
- Mental and emotional capability to make sound decisions quickly during potentially life-threatening situations in the event of a park emergency
- Basic analytical skills necessary to organize work-load to establish priorities
- Requires writing skills to accurately explain or describe any accident or situation. Spelling, punctuation, and grammar must be correct.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to conduct employee meetings; provide detailed direction to staff, guests, and vendors; and write policies, procedures, reports and other business related documents and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 75% of activities
- Ability to operate the following machines, equipment, or tools:
- All water attractions and pool equipment
- Cash register
- Hand-held two-way radio
- Video camera
- Pool vacuums
- Automatic and manual transmission vehicles
- Ability to swim 200 yards without stopping to rest
- Ability to tread water for two minutes without using hands and without stopping to rest
- Ability to retrieve a 10-pound diving brick off the bottom of a pool that is at least 8 feet deep using a feet-first surface dive
- Ability to travel to attend out-of-state training and meetings
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs
- Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Age: At Least 19 Years of Age
License or Certification: Valid driver’s license
Experience: 3-5 years of related experience in a theme park, or water park operation including 2 or more years in a supervisory role
Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the above requirements.
