Overview

Carowinds has an opening for the position Manager of Entertainment in Charlotte, NC. This full-time position will report to the Vice President and Park Manager.

 

This position oversees, directs and manages development, production, technical, administrative, and operational aspects of entertainment and special events. In this role you will collaborate with full-time staff, develop cross-divisional partnerships, oversee designers and contractors on actual event development and creation, as well as monitor operating and labor hour budgets. You will also work with corporate staff to develop new event and acting opportunities within the company. . Provides input on long-term growth planning for the division. Leads senior Entertainment staff in setting or implementing the operating standards and tone for the divisions. Creates and oversees the fiscal obligations and resources. Ensures general professional integrity and quality of all personnel, operations, product, and Guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and direct Entertainment full-time staff to advance aspects of event creation, development, and resort activities, along with the production process.
  • Develops project plans for execution of all events and activity in Park and Resorts.
  • Target equipment and resources needed for maximum event and activity product quality.
  • Collaborate with Park manager, CP&D, Marketing/Brand and other park departments to create new business opportunities (Festivals, special events, merchandise items, marketing ideas) that will not only generate untapped revenue but will create unique, brand specific, guest experiences. Creates business plan and concept pitches including a complete fiscal budget for shows and special events as needed.
  • Provide mentoring and direction to leadership within department to facilitate growth and develop talent for success.
  • Participate in Public Relations media interviews.
  • Coordinate all procurement and reconciliation for events and activities.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts as needed for various production needs.
  • At the direction of Corporate Planning and Design, develops entertainment product scope and financial needs to create budgetary and capital plans. Participates in capital project planning with other park leaders. Guides labor and expenses spending by working alongside departmental leaders and teams in coordinating/adjusting staffing and expenses within or under budgeted plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Theatre, Music, and/or Dance performance preferred.
  • Significant level of experience in and understanding of live show production needs.
  • Large scale event creation and execution experience preferred
  • 4-6 years supervisory experience.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Strong analytical skills, creating thinking, critical reasoning, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong ability to lead and partner in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
